Cheyenne Mountain State Park
Join us for our 3 mile Blue Moon Night Hike where we will navigate Cheyenne Mountain State Park trails by the light of the moon. During the hike, our volunteer naturalist, Ranger Rick, will make stops during the hike to discuss our park's history, share facts and hear stories about the moon, and learn how to identify stars with our eyes and apps. There are several free star map apps available for iPhone and Android such as Night Sky, Star Chart, and SkyView Lite. Choose your favorite! The hike is limited to 20 participants and is recommended for ages 7 and up; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. NOTE: This hike can be strenuous in certain parts and will also have areas where roots and rocks are present. Dogs are NOT permitted. The hike is weather permitting and may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather or muddy trails. You will be notified in the case of any changes or cancellations. Free event, park pass required.

Rick P - ALL Cheyenne Mountain State Park Volunteers
I am a USAF retiree, but still working full-time. At the park, I’m a volunteer Interpretive Ranger (Naturalist), Trail Ambassador, Lead Mountain Bike Instructor, and work at the Visitor Center front desk at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Leading hikes in my favorite volunteer activity. Because I still have a regular job, I don’t get to work at the park as much as I’d like to. My regular job pays the bills, but working at the park brings me peace. I love it.
