Mother's Day Hike
05/11/2025
| 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Lory State Park
Celebrate Mother’s Day in nature with a guided hike that highlights the wonders of wildlife families! Join us for a gentle, family-friendly walk through the trails as we explore the different types of animal family groups — from devoted bird pairs to herd-loving mammals and independent critters who raise their young solo. Along the way, we’ll stop to observe signs of wildlife, listen for bird calls, and maybe even spot some animal moms and their young in action. Whether you're a mom, coming with one, or just love nature and learning, this hike is a perfect way to spend time outdoors and reflect on the many ways love and care show up in the animal kingdom. Location: Well Gulch Trail Difficulty: Easy to moderate 1.7 mile trail What to Bring: Water, comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and curiosity! This is a free program with a Colorado State Parks Pass (KCW, Annual, or Daily)

Alexa H - Naturalist
Hi! I’m Alexa! Pronouns are she/her and they/them. I am very new to the naturalist world, but I am very excited to learn more about our wildlife and our beautiful state and hopefully get a job in educating about it one day!

Lacey S - Naturalist
I love Lory! I attended programs with my daughter when she was young, and then decided to start volunteering during school breaks. I work at school in special education, and love spending my summers at the parks with kids and folk of all ages. My hope is that you will fall in love with the park like I have.
