Mindfulness & Movement Along the Ark

Education and Outreach

Join local author, Jonathon Stalls and one of our park rangers for a calm morning walking experience along the Arkansas River on the Seidels trail. We will begin with a few grounding practices and 15-20 minutes of unhurried movement in silence. We will pause to rest and center at the river's edge for 5-10 minutes halfway through. Upon our return, we will have optional time connect with other participants. Please bring comfortable walking/hiking shoes, plenty of layers, sunscreen, water, and a journal in case you want to use your break for writing, reflecting, or sketching. Keep in mind that this is not an ADA accessible path. This is a dirt trail with small portions of rock. Our route will be relatively flat with some incline/decline getting to/from our halfway point. About Author Jonathon Stalls Jonathon Stalls (he, his) is a multi-disciplinary "Walking Artist" with Intrinsic Paths. In 2010, he walked for 242 days across the U.S. and has continued to move alongside a wide variety of people and landscapes since. His creative work involves pen drawing, writing, mindfulness practices, the Pedestrian Dignity project, Walk2Connect leadership training, and more. He is the author of WALK - Slow Down, Wake Up & Connect at 1-3 Miles Per Hour. Free passes are available through the Salida County Library as part of the “Check Out Colorado State Parks” backpacks.
