Join astronomers from Colorado Springs Astronomical Society for a meteor shower watch party! The Perseids meteor shower is at its peak so the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society (CSASTRO) will be here to talk about this annual natural phenomena. The night will start off with a short presentation about the nature of meteor showers, including where they come from and where/how to watch for them. Please feel free to bring a blanket or a camping chair to watch the meteors! Telescopes will be set up for viewing the various celestial sights in the night sky (colorful stars, nebula, star clusters, galaxies and more). Once dark enough we’ll gather around for a Green Laser Pointer tour where some of the main constellations will be identified and their stories will be told. This event will take place in the Lime Kiln parking lot. No registration is required. All vehicles must have a valid parks pass.
