Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer Terrain Hopper Ambassador! The Terrain Hopper Program is a program intended to get people with mobility challenges out onto our trails. The Hopper is an amazing device that can be driven by the hiker or by a companion, and we’ve had great success using it for guided hikes over the past two years, so much so that we are looking to expand our ranks and add a few new ambassadors to take people out! It is a fun and social volunteer experience, where we directly connect folks with our outdoor space. If you are looking to inject a little joy into your weekends, this is the volunteer opportunity for you! The Terrain Hopper will be available to rent on Fridays and Saturdays, from Memorial Day Weekend to October 1st. Hikes will begin between 9:30 AM and 12 PM, and are about 2.5 miles long. Volunteers will need to be at least 18 years old and hike up to 3 miles unassisted, in varying weather conditions. This training is required in order for volunteers to be able to take hikers out on their own. In this training, we will go over the program, what to expect, the administrative requirements, and then we will go out on a guided hike of our own to familiarize you with the route and device. Lunch will be provided!
