See linked document for full description of this hike. We start out on the Waterdog Lakes Trail in deep forest along a beautiful cascade. After a pleasant level interlude, we begin a moderate climb up an old 4WD trail on drier hillside. After another interlude deep in the forest, the trail begins the strenuous grade up and over an end moraine into a small glacial cirque to the lower lake at 1.6 miles. After a relaxing rest at the lower lake, we complete the climb to the upper lake in only another 0.5 mile and 100 Feet elevation gain. Hiking on the west side of the upper lake for great views and a good picnic spot adds another 0.6 mile to the hike. Return to the cars is via the same route.
