Program: Hunter's Full Moon Night Hike Times: 3 Mile Hike: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm (end time approximate) Astronomical Observation to follow to 9:30pm Location: Limekiln Trailhead Details: Join us for our 3 mile or 1 mile Hunter's Full Moon Night Hike, where we will navigate Cheyenne Mountain State Park trails by the light of the stars. During the 3 mile hike, volunteer Naturalist. Ranger Rick, will make stops during the hike to discuss our park's history, share facts about the Hunter's Moon, and discuss traits of some of the park's nocturnal wildlife. In addition to the hikes, astronomy program will immediately follow the hikes presented by members of CSASTRO will be here with their telescopes to share the wonders of the universe. Spring presents its own unique sky for the viewing and discussion of solar system and deep space objects, so come on out! Come for the hike, astronomy, or both! The hike and astronomy program are weather permitting and may be cancelled in the event of cloudy skies, inclement weather or muddy trails. You will be notified in the case of any changes or cancellations. NOTE: the 3 mile hike can be strenuous in certain parts and will also have areas where roots and rocks are present. Consider the 1 mile hike if you are unsure of your fitness level or may not be used to the Colorado Springs altitude. All programs are recommended for ages 7 and up; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Limekiln Trailhead. Free event, park pass required. Space limited to 20 people per hike.
