Interpretive Hike: Lost Mountain East Ridge Trail (was Pincushion)

We start out from the parking area hiking west for a very short distance west on CR240 to the crossing of the Colorado Trail just past the campground entrance. We turn south onto the Colorado Trail and encounter a steep but short climb of about 500 feet in a 0.75 mile through Montane forest. Then, the trail moderates for about the next 1.5 miles through forest to the top of the Ridge and lunch at the high point of the ridge in that area. We should enjoy some great views of the surrounding Sawatch Mountains from the top of the ridge and may find a number of blooming Pincushion cacti on the top of this moraine. We return to the vehicles via the same route.
