Area Assistance


Description:
Assist Salida area staff on habitat improvements, fencing and construction projects, adopt-a-trail ambassadors, invasive species removal, irrigation and planting projects.

Bluebird Monitoring


Description:
For those with an interest and familiarity of birds, volunteers will adopt local nest boxes throughout the Upper Arkansas River Valley to monitor Bluebird house/nesting sites.
Time Commitment:
Weekly monitoring with a seasonal committment of March-August.
Volunteer Benefits:
Enjoy the perks of birding while collecting important nesting data

Chaffee County Shooting Range Ambassador


Description:
Volunteer help is needed to do regular maintenance projects such as picking up trash, changing out targets, and cleaning restrooms, once or twice per month.
Time Commitment:
5 hours per month
Volunteer Benefits:
Engaging with the shooting public in the community. Can provide input on range designs.

Irrigation Ditch Maintenance


Description:
Maintain ditches, irrigate fields, clear obstructions. A fair amount of walking and physical exercise is required.
Time Commitment:
8-12 hours per month

Trail Ambassador - Frantz Lake SWA


Description:
Volunteers adopt a section of trail to trim trees, mow and weed eat, pick up trash, and other general maintenance. Also maintain signage.
Time Commitment:
Several hours a week. Commit to the Seasonal summer months.
Volunteer Benefits:
Give back by adopting a trail to care for.
