Crane Festival Get Involved Photo

Crane Festival


Local, San Luis Valley volunteers preferred. Support CPW's role in the annual Monte Vista Crane Festival the 2nd weekend in March at the Craft Fair and vendor booths. Festival information can be found here

Responsibilities: 

Volunteers may provide educational information for the public by helping CPW host an agency booth at the Ski Hi Building during the festival's duration Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 

Qualifications:

Knowledge of the San Luis Valley, the Sandhill Crane Migration, and general bird identification is helpful. Educational prep materials and training will be provided.

Frisco Creek Animal Care


Volunteer alongside CPW staff and assist with daily care of injured and orphaned wildlife. Primarily this entails cage/pen cleaning, feeding and occasional animal transport. Training in several areas is required in advance.

Frisco Creek Maintenance


Volunteer alongside CPW staff on maintenance and construction projects around the Frisco Creek Wildlife Facility.

Projects can include anything from spraying weeds and shoveling snow to fence construction and maintenance/construction of animal pens and cages. Advanced experience with maintenance and construction is helpful.
