Wildlife Host - Jumbo Reservoir SWA


Located on the eastern plains, Jumbo Reservoir State Wildlife Area (SWA) is seeking a Campground Host (individual or pair). Located between the towns of Crook and Sedgwick, Jumbo Reservoir is host to a wide range of outdoor recreation opportunities, including fishing, boating, bird watching, waterskiing, hunting, hiking, nature photography, and much more. The property is 1,703 acres with approximately 100 designated primitive campsites spread out over 4 campgrounds. The water is home to one of the best walleye fisheries in the state and is an excellent place to catch crappie, bluegill, perch, and catfish.

Jumbo SWA has one boat ramp, 5 vault toilets, multiple picnic sites, and several shade shelters for our visitors to use. Our hosts assist campers, maintain the campsites, clean the bathrooms, spray weeds as needed, pick up trash as needed, and mow parking areas on the property. Hosts may also help in other sections of the property depending on their skills and interests. Preferred but not required are applicants who the ability to operate riding lawn mowers, weed trimmer, tractor, able to spray chemicals, and have a clean driving record.

Host site includes: New campsite with concrete pad, fire pit, storage building, and picnic table. 50 amp electric, sewage, and cell service available, as well as potable water at a nearby location (a vehicle with a tank will be provided to transport water to the campsite).

Site elevation: 3,715 ft

Pairs, families, and individuals welcome. Hosts may have pets, kept on a leash.

Time Commitment:

20 hours per week per person. Desired time commitment is 3-4 months, May - August, but offer some flexibility. Weekends and holidays may be needed, but hosts will receive 2 consecutive days off per week.
