Angler Outreach


Description:
Volunteers are needed to assist with fishing events throughout SE Colorado, including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Lamar and Salida. Assist with school groups, large events for all ages, and fishing derbys. We have an annual need for assembling, fixing, and rigging fishing poles and other equipment maintenance. Must have good people skills with the ability to represent the agency in a professional manner.
Time Commitment:
2-6 hours per fishing event

Education Program Assistance


Description:
Assist with School programs, general education programs for the public, and other education equipment maintenance support. Must have good public speaking skills. Must be comfortable teaching all ages, including young children.
Time Commitment:
Programs vary from 1-8 hours in length.

For those that enjoy educating others about wildlife and natural resources.

Festival Ambassador


Description:

CPW Festival Ambassadors assist with tables, booths, and other community outreach events. Topics and themes vary, such as bighorn sheep, birding festivals, utilizing skins and skulls, trivia wheel, and other engagement tools. Events may occur on State Properties or at other community venues. Must have great people skills with the ability to represent the agency in a professional manner.

Time Commitment:

Event lengths vary from 2-8 hours.

Field Archery Instructor


Description:
The CPW archery program teaches international-style target archery to members of the public using steps that are safe and encourage success. Volunteer archery instructors teach events and class participants, both youth and adults, archery using CPW established curriculum. Archery events for CPW include structured classes, school programs, and large scale, free-flowing events where participants are only engaged for a few minutes. Volunteer instructors usually work as a team with other instructors.
Time Commitment:
6 hour training to become a certified instructor. Beginner classes are usually held twice a month on Saturdays from April through October, although additional event times may vary. We are looking for a season-long committment after training to ensure we have enough help.

NASP Archery Instructor


Description:
Volunteer archery instructors teach students archery using the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) curriculum. This utilizes international-style target archery, focusing on steps that are safe and encourage success. Archery events for CPW include structured classes within the schools or school programs at other locations. Volunteer instructors usually serve as a team with other instructors.
Time Commitment:
7 hour training to become a certified BAI instructor. Event times may vary, but typically take place during weekdays.
