Campground Volunteers


This spectacular mountain park consists of 71,000 acres and the largest moose herd in Colorado! At 8,000 plus feet in elevation.

Campground hosts help make the park run, they are the backbone to State Forest State Park, and are typically the first person and last person a visitor will see on their way out of the park. 

5 hosts needed for the 2026 season. Memorial Day - Labor Day. Pairs or individuals. These Volunteers are needed throughout the park to assist with park operations. 8,000 - 10,000 in elevation

Volunteer responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Greeting campers
  • Light maintenance
  • Cabin and camp site maintenance
  • Cleaning fire pits.

Entrance Gate Attendant Volunteer


Looking for 2 Volunteers during the 2026 Season, Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Assist the park's Visitor Services Section by serving in the entrance station(s), selling passes and permits, dispensing information, and answering questions. 8,000 ft to 10,000 ft in elevation.

Vacationing Volunteer Camp Host and Volunteer Coordinator

Vacation Volunteer Host


  • Volunteer during our 2026 Season. Memorial Day through Labor Day.
  • Volunteer for 2 days to 3 weeks in exchange for a free campsite at State Forest State Park! As a "Vacation Volunteer," you'll have the opportunity to give back to your favorite state parks and spend time recreating (even if all reservations are full).
  • Help keep State Forest beautiful. Work 2-3 hrs. per day cleaning/restocking the shower house, cabins, and cleaning fire pits in exchange for a full hook-up stay. The full hookup is valued @ $46/day. 
  • Anyone is welcome to apply (individuals, couples, families, or friends).
  • Upon your arrival you will meet with the Vacation Host Coordinator. The Coordinator will provide all necessary supplies, instruction, and training for you to successfully complete your assigned task.
  • If we observe that the work wasn’t completed according to expectations, park staff reserve the right to ask you to leave the provided site.
  • Requirements and Qualifications:
    • 18 years old +. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive an OHV.
    • Ability to use a pressure washer, broom, shovel, and stock toilet paper.
    • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
    • Ability to walk without assistance.
    • Background check will be conducted.
  • 8,000 ft to 10,000 ft in elevation
  • Orientation and Support:
    • Vacation Volunteers will be supervised by the Vacation Coordinator. All supplies provided.
