Get Involved: Southeast Region Aquatic Programs - Aquatic Program Assistance
Aquatic Program Assistance
- Description:
Assist biologists with miscellaneous aquatic projects including population surveys through gillnetting, net reefing for the walleye spawn, and other projects around the southeast region.
- Time Commitment:
As Needed. The annual walleye spawn occurs daily from mid to late March. Population surveys are typically in the fall.
- Volunteer Benefits:
Help support healthy waterways and sustainable fish populations.
- Accessibility:
The Walleye spawn occurs at the Lake Pueblo Boathouse. There is a short, steep hill with uneven railroad tie steps to reach the dock that accesses the boathouse. The tasks for this project require a lot of standing and potentially lifting tubs that weigh up to 40 lbs. Volunteers are encouraged to stay within their comfort level when it comes to lifting and/or taking breaks to sit.
