Get Involved: Steamboat and Pearl Lake State Parks - Campground Host

Campground Host


Description:

Situated in an aspen/pine forest, Steamboat Lake is one of Colorado's most popular attractions. It features 188 campsites, camper cabins, fishing, swimming, boating, a full-service marina, and hiking trails. We are located 30 miles north of Steamboat Springs.

Campground Hosts act as ambassadors for the park staff, assisting with campground reservations and maintenance and providing information to visitors. The volunteer schedule is flexible enough to allow you ample opportunity to enjoy this beautiful area.

Campsites:

We are looking for 5-6 camp hosts who are ready to join a wonderful group of individuals all working together to maintain, conserve, protect and enjoy both of our beautiful parks.  Come be part of our team in 2025!

We are looking for a couple to become our Larkspur hosts. The Larkspur hosts take care of the Harebell, Rosecrown, Larkspur, Lupine and Yarrow loops within the Sunrise Vista Campground at Steamboat Lake. All loops together add to a total of 61 campsites with both electric and non-electric (basic) sites. The camp hosts assigned to this area, will live in the Larkspur Loop in a site that includes full hook-ups. 

We are also looking for a couple or an individual to become our Bridge Island host(s).  Bridge Island is part of the Dutch Hill Campground at Steamboat Lake.  Bridge Island offers some of the most beautiful views of the lake! It includes 36 campsites all noon-electric(basic) sites.  Part of the Island is for tents only.  Camp host here have a choice of sites to live in.  

Site Elevation:

8,001 ft. 

Pets allowed.

Time Commitment:

20 hours per person per week, flexible work schedule.

Mid May to Early September

Host at a beautiful state park nearby Steamboat Springs with numerous recreational opportunities within minutes of the park!

We could not do what we do without our volunteers!  Our volunteers are a an essential part of our parks. We value and cherish your passion, and the commitment that you bring.  

Amenities: 

The Bridge Island site:  This site has water, uses a macerator pump to dump( we will teach you how to use it.  It's a pretty easy machine to use), but it has NO ELECTRICITY.  Camp host would have to utilize solar panels.  The site has amazing views and easy water access for those willing to live a little more remote.

The Wheeler Loop Site:  This site has water, uses a macerator pump to dump (we will teach you how to use it.  It's a pretty easy machine) and has 30 and 50amp electrical hookups.

Computer and internet access (visitor center).

In addition to these amenities, Steamboat and Pearl Lake can provide propane to subsidize hosts needs. Please reach out to the admin contact for more information about this benefit.
