Training is required to participate in this role, the next training takes place on Saturday, August 23rd from 9am to 3pm, more information will be provided after you submit your application.

Ken Caryl Ranch Wildlife Outreach Team Volunteers serve as designated information representatives. Volunteers interpret the local environment and educate visitors on responsible wildlife viewing and recreation behaviors. Volunteers may engage the public in three ways:

  1. as an information station at a trailhead,
  2. roving interpretation by hiking or biking in the open space
  3. interacting with users as a targeted educational effort by:
    1. hanging door hangers at residences for specific conflict issues
    2. placing specific signage in various areas of the open space to raise awareness of wildlife.
    3. leading educational programs/open houses at the Dakota Lodge to enhance visitor learning and engagement.

Volunteers in this role will receive support from local District Wildlife Managers, the CPW Northeast Region Volunteer and Education Coordinator, and Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association Park Rangers.

To volunteer in this role you must be a Ken Caryl Ranch Resident

Time Commitment:

The Wildlife Conflict Program is ongoing and cyclical in nature, with education performed during busy periods, mainly weekends in Spring, Summer, and Fall. Volunteers are expected to register on the calendar for at least one shift per month. If we have enough volunteers or interest, volunteers can also set-up during weekdays. Materials are stored at the education hut.
