Description:

We are looking for volunteers to provide educational information to visitors at Brainard Lake regarding recreating in moose country during hunting season. Brainard Lake is in Ward, about 1 hour northwest of Boulder. Volunteers will focus on discussing the importance of hunting in managing wildlife populations, as well as “sharing the forest” type information, such as the need for users to respect the diversity of recreational opportunities in the area. Other topics volunteers might communicate include: how to safely recreate during hunting season, moose biology and behavior, the importance of keeping dogs leashed in moose country, and local hunting rules and regulations (Game Management Unit 29). The priority will be for weekend days, early September through Mid October but weekdays are also a possibility.

Time Commitment:

Seasonal commitment in September and October, Preference for availability for a few weekend days between September and Mid October, opportunity for weekday shifts as well.

Volunteer Benefits:

Interact with the public at Brainard Lake Recreation Area and education about moose biology.

Accessibility:

There is the opportunity to either set up a stationary education table, or to rove around the lakes
