Winter Campground Host
- Description:
Located in the mountain community of Divide, Colorado. This park boasts beautiful mountain views. Mueller is currently seeking a volunteer host for the winter season. November and December have the highest need, but this host role can stay through March if desired.
Amenities:
There are two housing options for this volunteer role depending on the season. An RV site will be available with water and propane hookups along with a 20 or 30 amp electrical hookup. In the winter a furnished staff cabin on park with water, heat, kitchen, one full bath, 1 bedroom, wood burning stove, refrigerator, microwave, and outdoor fire ring. Both housing options would be in exchange for working 20 hours per individual each week (4 hour shifts, 5 days a week). Days off vary.
Laundry and internet are available at the maintenance shop right up the road from the cabin and RV site.
Responsibilities:
Some responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- cleaning of a flush toilet facility
- cleaning campfire pits
- trash collection
- rental cabin housekeeping including laundry
- other projects to fulfill the 20-hour per week agreement.
Good to Know:
The park is at 9,800 ft elevation.

Dogs are allowed in developed areas of the park, not on trails or in the backcountry.
There will be snow here in the winter. At times, the park will get multiple feet of snow at once. The maintenance team is very good at keeping roads within the park plowed. Highway 67, the road outside the park, can be snow covered and icy at times. Heavy snow is usually expected February-April.
- Time Commitment:
20 hours per person per week.

Enjoy working with a light hearted team to keep the park beautiful all year round. If you volunteer for 48 hours or more, you will earn a free volunteer park pass to all Colorado State Parks. There is also a catered volunteer appreciation lunch in January.
Winter is a beautiful time to be at Mueller. When the trails are covered in snow there are multiple winter activities to do at the park. Sledding can be done on most hills. There are snowshoes available for volunteers to use. And cross country ski tracks are laid on three different routes.
- Accessibility:
This role does require being able to be on your feet for hours at a time, squatting, bending, and lifting.
