Maintenance
- Description:
Maintenance volunteers help to protect, preserve, enhance, and manage the wildlife habitat, visitor recreation areas, and facilities around the park. Work may include ongoing maintenance and improvements, short-term construction projects, and preparation of facilities for park events.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Under direction from the Park Resource Technician, perform maintenance such as weed control, tree trimming, and trail maintenance projects in designated areas of the park.
- Assist with other maintenance and landscaping projects which may include, but are not limited to; painting or staining fences and buildings, installing new park signage, maintaining park tools and machinery, washing vehicles, cleaning bathrooms, and picking up litter.
- Water plants and gardens, flower beds
- Spray weeds
- Trail work, technical work on tools and equipment, and vehicles
- Staining and painting
- Time Commitment:
16 hours per month, 3 month minimum

Qualifications Desired
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools and equipment, and a willingness to learn unfamiliar tools.
- Safe handling of tools and equipment is required.
- Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift 25+ pounds.
- An enthusiasm for protecting Colorado’s resources.
Training and/or Preparation Required
- You will train under the supervision of the PRT and other designated staff to learn safe handling of tools and equipment, landscape management techniques, and other processes.
- Must create a user profile in CPW Connect to track hours.
Evaluation Expectations
- By the end of training you should be able to follow proper safety guidelines and use tools and equipment as trained.
- Volunteers must wear CPW uniform items provided by the park.
- Volunteers may be dismissed if they are not carrying out their responsibilities, are not reliable, or are otherwise unprofessional.
