Description:

The Northeast Regional Office in Denver is looking for a volunteer to help assist the CWD/Mandatory Check Technicians in their collecting of samples and data of a wide variety of species! Species include moose, elk, deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, black bears and mountain lions! This volunteer position would mainly exist to help transport CWD samples to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Health Lab in Ft. Collins using a State vehicle. Additionally, this volunteer will help assist the CWD technicians in documenting measurements and information from these hunter harvested animals. Our CWD Techs will need help holding antlers, horns, and carcasses still while measurements are taken, organizing samples, entering data, and helping hunters check in their harvests. There is potential to learn more about the CWD Technician position as the need arises.

The perfect candidate will have personal hunting experience in Colorado, be able to stand outside for long periods of time, and be able to interact with a wide variety of CPW staff and Customers.. This volunteer role will work primarily out of the Northeast Region Office at 6060 Broadway, Denver CO 80216 and regularly drive to Fort Collins in a State Vehicle to deliver CWD Samples to the Wildlife Health Lab.

Time Commitment:

This volunteer is needed Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 5pm from August 28th-November 20th.

This volunteer is expected to attend a formal training all day on Thursday, August 28th in Ft. Collins and would be provided transport to that training from the Northeast Region Office at 6060 Broadway, Denver CO, 80216
