Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector


Description:

Help Boyd Lake staff check boats for any Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS). Inspection and Decontamination training and park equipment will be provided. Training consists of "in-person" or online "Zoom-type" training about how to inspect and decontaminate boats for all Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS), including zebra and quagga mussels, mudsnails, plants, etc.

Inspectors should be comfortable looking at boats and interiors of boats, possibly getting wet (from decontamination procedures), walking, bending over to look in engines/ compartments, talking with boaters, using equipment with provided PPE, writing receipts, using a CPW tablet or computer for simple data entry.

Time Commitment:

A few hours during the week or weekend. This opportunity could also extend during the summer, when we are at our busiest time! We would love help all times during the year!

Volunteer Benefits:

Training and education about Aquatic Nuisance Species, training for decontamination procedures, socializing with Boyd Lake Staff and other volunteers, socializing with visitors and boaters, and so much more! If a volunteer completes and logs 48 hours of service in one year, a state park pass will be issued.
