Education and Outreach
We are looking for volunteers to provide educational information to visitors at Brainard Lake regarding recreating in moose country during hunting season. Brainard Lake is in Ward, about 1 hour northwest of Boulder. Volunteers will focus on discussing the importance of hunting in managing wildlife populations, as well as “sharing the forest” type information, such as the need for users to respect the diversity of recreational opportunities in the area. Other topics volunteers might communicate include: local hunting rules and regulations (Game Management Unit 29), how to safely recreate during hunting season, moose biology and behavior, and the importance of keeping dogs leashed in moose country. Volunteers with hunting experience preferred but not required. The priority will be for weekend days, September 9 through October 14 but weekdays are also a possibility. **Training is mandatory to participate and is scheduled for: Saturday, August 19th 9am – 12pm CPW Office at 6060 Broadway in Denver 80216
