The next gen group will hike along the Cheeseman Ranch Trail to some of the bird nesting boxes set up on the park. We will collect info on current conditions of the boxes, if any birds are seen in or around it, and discuss how tracking this info helps song birds across the nation. Next gen participants will also have the opportunity to give park staff their opinion on what future volunteer opportunities would realistically work with their schedules and excite them! The hike is about 3 miles round trip and moderate in difficulty. Wear sturdy shoes for hiking. There will be a few minutes at the beginning of the program to eat lunch if needed, otherwise eat beforehand and bring water and snacks. It is suggested that participants younger than 16 are accompanied by an adult.
