Volunteer Description: Join CPW at the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival in downtown Denver! We will have a booth focused on two things: 1) Education and outreach - play "loteria" (similar to bingo) with attendees and offer wildlife education using skins and skulls. 2) CPW information - share general information about CPW, with a particular focus on the Keep Colorado Wild pass and the Centennial (low-income) pass. Any volunteer can help with either portion of the booth! The event itself goes from 10am-8pm. We are asking volunteers in the morning shift to arrive at 9:30am to prepare for the event opening, and for volunteers in the last shift to stay 30 minutes to clean up. Immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of Mexican culture with a weekend full of exciting events, contests, and non-stop entertainment across three dynamic stages. Indulge your taste buds at our diverse food vendors, and explore unique merchandise from local artisans. Bring the whole family to enjoy kid-friendly activities and create lasting memories together. Don’t miss out on this iconic event that has been a cornerstone of Colorado’s Cinco de Mayo celebrations for years. What to Bring/Wear: Please wear a CPW volunteer logoed shirt and/or hat. If you don't have one, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible so we can provide you with one. Plan for the weather - wear layers, bring sunscreen, a hat, a water bottle, and comfortable shoes. CPW will provide light snacks and extra waterbottles. Transportation and Parking: Consider taking public transit (such as the light rail) to Civic Center Park. If you need to drive, one option for parking is the Denver Art Museum's parking garage. It may be the cheapest and closest option. If the cost of parking is a barrier for you, please email [email protected]. We can reimburse volunteers for parking costs for this event. Please avoid surface lots as they tend to be more expensive. Language: We would love to have one person per shift who is bilingual in English and Spanish. However, please don't let perceived language barriers prevent you from volunteering at this event! Most conversations are in English.
