Community Science

Nest box monitors regularly check on nesting birds from Spring to late Summer at locations up and down the Arkansas Valley. This important community science effort contributes data to Nestwatch, which is a national effort by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to collect data on the nesting behaviors and success rates of cavity nesting bird species. A love of birds, commitment to the season, along with basic data entry skills (via App or Website) are necessary. Route assignments will be based on location and scheduling preferences. Classroom training will begin at 10am inside the Salida Community Center's meeting room located at 305 F St, Salida, CO.
