Vacation Volunteer Host

Description:

Come volunteer for a weekend in exchange for a free campsite at State Forest State Park! As a 'Vacation Volunteer', you'll have the opportunity to give back to your favorite parks and spend time recreating (even if all reservations are full).

Help keep State Forest beautiful by cleaning and restocking restrooms in exchange for a free, full hook-up stay. This is a new volunteer opportunity occurring only in specified parks/locations. Help us pilot this new program!

Anyone is welcome to apply (individuals, couples, families, or friends). Upon your arrival, we will provide keys, a broom, a pressure washer, toilet paper, and a checklist, along with instructions and directions to your assigned restrooms. When you’re complete each day (in 2-3 hours), return and check out with the seasonal ranger. Then go play!

If observed that the work wasn’t completed according to expectations, park staff reserve the right to ask you to leave the provided site.

Time Commitment:

Minimum 4 days, 2-3 hours per day. Up to 14 days. Ideal days are Friday - Monday, but open to weekday volunteers too.

Volunteer Benefits:
  • Full hook-up site for free in exchange for fulfilling expectations and time commitment. The site is by the maintenance shop.
  • No need to go through the campsite reservation system
  • Give back while recreating in a beautiful state park
  • See a moose
