Get Involved: Volunteer Services - Angler Outreach
Angler Outreach
- Description:
Pass on your passion for the water and help reel in the next generation of anglers! As an Angler Outreach Volunteer, you’ll be the friendly face of conservation, helping novices of all ages discover the joy of the outdoors.
New to fishing? No problem! You don't need to be a pro angler to make a difference. If you love working with people, we’ll provide the training you need—your enthusiasm and helping hand are what matter most!
Whether you're helping a child cast their very first line or showing an adult how to tie the perfect knot, this role is all about creating unforgettable "first catch" moments.
What You’ll Do:
- Share Your Skills: Assist with fishing clinics and events, school groups, and fishing derbies to teach essential skills like casting, knot tying, and proper fish handling.
- Educate: Help beginners understand aquatic ecology and how to identify local fish species.
- Prep the Gear: Assist with the annual maintenance, assembly, and rigging of fishing poles and equipment.
- Inspire: Represent CPW at community events, schools, and fishing derbies to promote outdoor recreation.
- Volunteer Benefits:
Why You’ll Love It:
- Support the next generation: There is nothing quite like the excitement of helping someone catch their very first fish.
- Skills development: CPW continually offers its volunteers opportunities to advance their angling knowledge.
- Strengthen your communities: Spend time outside while growing your community through teaching fishing.
- Appreciation incentives: Receive hats, t-shirts, and Colorado State Park passes for your service.
- Flexible Commitment: Shifts typically range from 2–6 hours per event, making it easy to fit into your schedule.
